Training
At Doringcourt we realize that though there are many types of riding disciplines, each should be taught and performed well, not just for competitive showing, but for a quality ride in any arena. We have hand picked a group of trainers for every individuals riding choice to help each rider enjoy the utmost pleasure in their riding experience. Please allow us to introduce you to them, below, and contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Over time I've come to realize that the quality of training, where horses are concerned, is due largely to the convictions of the person doing the training. In my opinion, quality horsemanship is hard to find. Years ago I was lucky enough to meet a woman who has literally educated me in all the equine areas we "think" we already know. What's the old saying? You can't know what you don't know! What a rude awakening that was for me. She introduced me to the teachings of GaWaNi Pony Boy, author of "Horse Follow Closely" and "Of Women and Horses", which gave me a better understanding of "respect of the herd". So as I make this introduction, know that of all the instructors that are out there, she's second to none.
You'll see her articles frequent the Horse Gazette, and if you're lucky enough to secure a spot as her student you'll learn things your horse already knows and now you will too!

A few years ago I came across a rather unique individual who impressed me with his "kind side" of dealing with horses as well as people. Dedicated to the bonding of horse and rider, he is a "patient" force in working with different breeds that require a unique and individual training approach.
Professional trainer and riding instructor since 1991, he has worked with a wide variety of breeds from Quarter Horses, Paints, Appaloosas, Arabians, Peruvians, Thoroughbreds, Gypsy's to even Draft horses.

Bridget came to us with a Natural Horsemanship background and communication with horse and rider is the name of the game. She has a great understanding of “herd leadership” and partnership with our equine friends. Bridget is a high school teacher as well, so her own communication skills are second to none. She brings a kind nature and understanding of these large animals and their need to please their human counterparts if given the opportunity.
Bridget : While I have had “horse fever” since the cradle, I have always felt that there was something missing . . . that there had to be a better way to communicate, train and bond with a horse. Formerly trained in hunter/jumper, I began studying Natural Horsemanship about five years ago under Stephanie McGlothlin. Horses are herd animals and their principle need is to know their place in that herd. Horses require a strong leader to be happy and feel safe. If that leader is you, then you will enjoy an unbelievably rewarding bond and a true partnership with your equine friend. Come ride with us!
We are fortunate, here at Doringcourt, to have these two young ladies who break and train horses from weanling to finished competitor. They began their training under the professional hands of Pat Parker and have a special relationship with each of their equine friends. Riding correctly and communication with your horse is a learned skill but should also be “FUN” for the student and these two know how to make it all happen!

Erin: I have been riding horses all my life, but it wasn’t until I came to Doringcourt that I caught “horse fever” and started taking Dressage Lessons. Since then I have studied under Pat Parker, ADA Judge Kat Kyle and currently training under ADA Judge Ashley Hammill. I teach youth and adults on the foundation of dressage so that they may have the equitation for any discipline. I am currently showing in Dressage on my own horse and continuing my equine education. I break and train horses to have the basics for any discipline but my expertise is in Classical Dressage.

Emma: My riding career began at eleven years of age as I worked for a couple of stables mucking stalls and grooming horses in exchange for riding lessons. After searching for a time, I came across Doringcourt Stables in the Texas Stable Directory and began riding under the instruction of Pat Parker. I truly enjoy shows and trail rides, but my passion is in classical riding. I am currently studying under Leslie Johnson and enjoy training horses and teaching students at Doringcourt.
